Sansepolcro is tucked away in eastern Tuscany, about halfway between Florence and Perugia. There’s no direct flight from the U.S., so you’ll first fly into a major Italian hub — Rome (FCO), Florence (FLR), or Pisa (PSA) are the most convenient. From there, you can rent a car (the most flexible option for exploring the Tuscan countryside) or hop on a train to Arezzo and then take a short bus or taxi to Sansepolcro.

Firenze Florence, Italy
If you’re coming just for our wedding, flying directly into Florence is your best bet. That will get you within an hour and a half of our venue via car / train / bus. See below for more details.
Option 1 - Drive from Florence
Driving directly from Florence to the villas is an option if you’d like to have a car with you for the duration of your stay. The drive is roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes (depending on traffic) and would route you directly from the car rental lots at FLR onto the A1 south. Going this route will keep you out of the historic parts of Florence (your car won’t fit and you’ll have a bad time).
Once at either villa (Cungi or Cantone) there is immediate on-site parking available next to each building and the town of Sansepolcro has plenty of options for refueling your car.
Note: If you plan on driving in Italy you will need either an International Drivers Permit (IDP) or official translation of your drivers license. IDPs are issued by AAA and can not be issued once you’re out of the US. Head over to AAA’s international drivers website for application information.
Option 2 - Train to Arezzo, Drive to Villa
If you plan on coming from a different airport (Milan, Rome, Venice, Naples, Bologna) your best option to avoid driving the whole way is to take a train to Arezzo then drive or bus over to Sansepolcro. Arezzo has several different options for car rentals, so if you’d like to have a car with you during your stay in the Villa you can pick something up here.
ItaliaRail is a great option for getting around Italy without attempting to drive between every city center and then attempting to find somewhere to store your car. While Sansepolcro isn’t directly serviced by a train line, Arezzo is the closest major hub that can get you anywhere else in the country.
Note: If you’d like to stay entirely car-free for your stay in Italy, let us know! We’re open to shuttling people from Arezzo to the Villas if none of these options fit your needs!
